According to Daily Post, although details of the inferno are still sketchy as of press time, a source disclosed that the incident followed a tanker explosion close to the market.
According to her, many corpses have been recovered from the scene of the incident.
The incident comes a few days after a 21-storey building collapsed on Gerrard Road, in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

The 21-floor building that collapsed was one of 360 degrees towers in the highbrow Lagos area.
Emergency workers have evacuated nine persons alive from the debris of the building while about 39 persons have been confirmed dead.
Police authorities have also vowed to punish those responsible for the collapse of the building.
